The Sassy Pear

Finding my way through my forties

A little message for you — November 21, 2018
Uh oh — November 26, 2014

Uh oh

This is not good, guys. I’m supposed to have 15 people for Thanksgiving tomorrow and there is a definitive rumble in my tummy that may or not be the precursor to something worse.

I had a Santa Fe Chicken salad for lunch yesterday and a Balance bar in the afternoon, then came home and had dinner – turkey patty with peas and a smattering of mashed potatoes – and felt okay. Not sure if maybe the salad didn’t agree with me, or maybe the Balance bar was hard on my stomach, but whatever it was is wrecking havoc in my system.

It started last night after dinner and ended with me falling asleep on the couch at 8:00 last night. At 9:00 my husband woke me up and asked if I was going to sleep on the couch (hahaha NO), at which point my daughter said “now you won’t be able to sleep tonight since you just took a nap” to which I said “just watch me!”. After I peeled my contacts out of my eyes (those of you who wear contacts know what it’s like to fall asleep with your contacts in – ouch!), I crawled into bed and it took me about twelve seconds to fall asleep. I think I slept okay…I do remember waking up a couple of times and noticing my tummy was still not right.

I had planned on going to Zumba last night, but it got cancelled, which was probably a good thing actually. I can’t imagine all that jumping around and merengue-ing and salsa-ing would have been good for my stomach.

I thought I would feel better this morning, but so far I don’t. I didn’t even want to drink my morning coffee.

Let that sink in for a minute…

You know I’m not playing around when coffee doesn’t even sound good. In order to ward off the inevitable caffeine headache later, I stopped by McDonald’s and got a Coke because when I’m sick, I want Coke. And McDs has the best fountain drinks and it was on my way to work. I thought I was starting to get hungry so I had whole wheat bread with peanut butter and banana just a few minutes ago that I brought from home…not sure if that was a good idea or not. So far, I can’t tell any difference.

The point is…I don’t feel like doing Thanksgiving. I’ve got a lot of prep work and house work to do and I don’t feel like doing any of it. Thankfully I’ve got a husband and 3 kids who can help out. I might just perch myself on the couch and delegate tasks to everyone and let them do all the work while I sit pitifully by and watch. Now that I think about it, I might do that even if I start feeling better because man, I am just not into it this year.

So anyway…looks like I might be saving myself a whole bunch of calories if this thing doesn’t go away by tomorrow! Which wouldn’t be the worst thing, I suppose, but man, I really was looking forward to eating a slice of pie. Oh well, there will be more pie and more Thanksgivings later.

I hope you all have a very happy and thankful Thanksgiving holiday and to those of you outside of the US, I hope you all have a very happy and thankful Thursday!

Happy Thanksgiving! — November 27, 2013

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey all!

I just want to wish all of my US readers a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow and all of my Outside-of-the-US readers, Happy Thursday!!

After the big feast tomorrow, I plan on doing a whole lot of nothing. I’m going to relax and enjoy being with my family. I’m going to drink wine and eat pie. I’m just going to roll with the flow of the day.

All my housecleaning and prep work will be done by tonight, so I can just enjoy tomorrow and welcome my family and be awesome.

I’m looking forward to it. I hope you look forward to your day as well.

Gobble Gobble!
