Checking In

Standard

So…I uh, took a bit of break there. Did you notice I was absent from the blogosphere?

The last couple of months were really busy and blogging just sort of fell off my radar. Honestly, I just haven’t felt like I had much to say about weight loss (or my lack thereof). I’ve been writing this blog for 8-ish years now and I’ve been spinning my wheels the whole time, so obviously writing about losing weight does not actually cause one to lose weight. Who knew?

I thought I’d pop in and just post a quick update on what I’ve been doing and what’s been going on in my life.

My son graduated high school a couple of weeks ago. I’ve mostly been okay with it, except at his last band concert (he’s been in band since 5th grade) where I had to excuse myself to go cry in the bathroom. I sobbed big huge tears, just to get it all out of my system once and for all. At his actual graduation, I didn’t even cry at all – it was a happy day filled with friends and family and we had a lot of fun. He’s going to a local university, so he’ll live at home while he’s going there. I am not sad about that at all. 🙂

I’ve been reading Georgie Fear’s book Lean Habits, which I find phenomenal. She has such a great approach and I find it easy to work on the habits because it’s all ultimately up to me. I’m also reading a great book on exercise motivation – I’ll share more of that once I finish it, but so far, it is changing how I look at exercise. I am really happy with my food and exercise right now.

Speaking of working out – I joined a gym! It’s a women’s-only center and I absolutely love it. It’s pretty and girly and friendly and it has so much to offer: weight machines, cardio machines, plus so many other amenities, not to mention a massage chair that I have a serious crush on. The staff and other members are really helpful and I just like being there. I know the honeymoon probably won’t last forever, but for now I’m milking it for all its worth.

Looking at my calendar, it’s going to be a busy summer. Kids will be going to camp, we’ll all be going on vacation, my youngest is going to take a summer gymnastics session…better enjoy it because busy summers tend to fly by!

That’s all I have time for today, folks. I’ll be back to post again sometimes soon-ish.

Wow! Lots of good, fun news. I’m so glad to hear about Georgie’s book, and am interesting in hearing about the exercise book. And the new gym! That will be fun for you to indulge yourself when your kids are away at camp. (although, they’re probably going to camp one at a time.)

    • Actually, the oldest two will go to the same camp and the youngest will be at Grandma’s house that week, so…SO MUCH FREE TIME FOR MOM!!!

Nice to hear from you. I will check out “Lean Habits.” Oh if only all the thought energy I devote to weight loss could be transformed into physical exercise!
