I’m amazed that:
- I’m emailing my “running coach” and asking questions like “do I HAVE to rest in between running days?’
- A lot of women didn’t start running until they were 40+years old.
- There’s a whole bunch of folks who do most of their running on the treadmill.
- David at the running store spent over an hour to find the right running shoe for me.
- I dropped over $100 on running shoes and have no buyers remorse at all.
- According to David, “Socks are EVERYTHING” when it comes to running – hence the $30 I spent on 2 pair of socks (that I love, btw).
- I look forward to waking up at 5am so I can run.
- Chocolate milk is a recovery drink.
- I know what “technical shirts” are.
- It took me this long to appreciate my so-very-powerful thighs and calves.
- I can run. Period.

NICE!!! Such a happy post.
And if you need any stickers, let me know. Just sayin’. 🙂
You go, girl!
Love chocolate milk. After my half in San Antonio? I sat there on the ground completely blissed out on chocolate milk.
Keep rockin’ it!!!
Chocolate milk is my recovery drink too!
Yeah baby!!!!! I concur on all levels except I’m not at the 5 am wake up time. Yet. 🙂 you are an inspiration!! And I’m thrilled you have a coach and a good running store. Socks are so important (Balegas all the way). So are the right shoes. It makes the entire experience so much better when you have the right gear.
When’s your next race?!
So stinking proud of you!!!
Nice shoes! I actually was looking for running shoes recently and spent a bunch and was totally cool with it 🙂 Glad to see you didn’t get those new “natural” running shoes…those look painful.
Asics rule ! Oh, and running too. Welcome to the club 🙂
So proud and happy to read this post. I have been spending more than $100 on running shoes (and buying good socks) for so many years and while I would never spend that on other shoes given my budget, this is definitely where the extra money will make your BODY (and mind) SO much happier. I am excited for you!
Sweet new shoes! And yes to everything you said, especially the rest days and socks. 🙂
Those are my shoes!
Wowza! Who are you and what did you do with my friend Jill?
Seriously, that is great to hear that you are having fun with this! LOVE your shoes. I like Asics too. Almost got them last time, but I reverted to my old standby Sauconys.
It’s inspiring to see how much you love exercise! I surely hope I get there some day!
Nice kicks!
I just started drinking chocolate milk (now that I’m breastfeeding) – specifically b/c it’s got protein and calcium. It’s practically a health food!
Woot! You go, girl!!! I love that you’re enjoying your new favorite form of exercise. Gotta love those endorphins (and the chocolate milk)! I started running after 40 also (did a little in high school, but so long ago!). With many running races I do, the 40 year-old female group is usually the biggest age group!
