Romaine, romaine, wherefore art thou Romaine?

I have a little confession to make.

More than once, I have found myself talking to my food (no, it has never talked back).  Actually it’s not just talking I do – lately I find myself professing my undying love for certain foods. “Vanilla ice cream, I love you.” “Oh I love you, chocolate brownie.” “I really do love you, York Peppermint Patty.”

I’m sure it comes as no surprise to learn that my love has been reserved for foods of the, ahem, junk food sugar-laden treat variety. It’s no secret that I have  sweet tooth that I continue to feed on a daily basis even though I know it’s not good for me (addiction, thy name is chocolate), so you can imagine my surprise when at lunch today I found myself saying “Mmmm…I love you Chicken Salad!”

Yes dear readers, today I involuntarily declared my love to a bowl of greens and some protein. It is a momentous day! A day that shall live in the history books as The Day Jill Moaned Over a Salad!  Okay, well, it wasn’t really an audible moan. I mean, I have coworkers I eat lunch with every day, and if I just started moaning every time I ate something…things would get awkward in a hurry. Did I mention I’m the only woman who works here?

So mark your calendars  – I’m pretty sure this time next year there will be a national holiday named in my honor. June 29th shall forever be known as Jill’s Salad Love Day. Hey, I can always use another paid day off.

  1. I tend to save my moaning and words of love for the sugary, fatty, greasy unhealthy foods but lately I’ve been expressing some love for all the fresh fruit that is sweet and delicious.

I’m always up for a good salad and a day off 😉
