Early morning comes early

Wow. It was a little harder to get out of bed this morning, but I did it!  I got up and got my elliptical on again.  I spent the first 10 minutes fiddling with my phone trying to make a playlist, so when I finally got it going I only had 20 more minutes of conscious exercising to do.  Today’s workout really flew by fast (thank goodness).

I love Elli the elliptical but I can totally see myself getting bored with her very soon.  I may have to throw in some 30 Day Shred or maybe some power yoga too, just to mix things up and keep it interesting.  I think this is one reason I am not consistent in my workouts – I get bored easily and I give up.  I need to invest in some more DVD’s for those days when Elli isn’t going to cut it.

So did you get up early and work out?  What did you do?  How do you keep from getting bored with your work outs? Enquiring minds want to know!

  1. I got up and ran/walked three miles outside- beautiful day to do so. I walk one song, run the next and so forth, up to 12 songs or so- which last between 3-4 minutes, so I’m getting in 36-40 minutes of cardio. I do it first thing so I can check it off my list- even if it is 5:30 am before work!

  2. I am just used to getting up and exercising first thing. It is such a habit with me. I normally do not do the same thing 2 days in a row. I do 3 days of full body strength training, and other days I bike or run. It is harder in the winter when I cannot be outside as much to keep from boredom.

  3. Nope. I didn’t get up. I’m not getting up one second earlier than I already do or I’m going to DIE! I have high hopes for a walk later this evening though. We had hoped to go right after lunch, but one unnamed third grader in my home has decided to take 47 years to do her math assignment, so we can’t go yet. Fie on her!

  4. I didn’t get up at the crack of dawn but I did workout at the gym. I did 65 minutes on the elliptical and was a sweaty mess by the time I hobbled off it.

    I find it easier to stay on the cardio machines with the built in tv’s so I can distract myself with mind numbing television. If I can’t find anything on the boob tube I crack open a book and try not to think about my burning thighs.

  5. I hit the gym with the other early morning folks so that I get in my workout before work. When on cardio machines, I finally have the opportunity to log in some time with my favorite magazines, and that helps distract me. Of course, if it’s an interval day, I still have to keep one eye on the clock, so short articles and blurbs are best for that.

  6. I was up at 4am, but not to exercise. Today is a work day so it doesn’t count for our challenge. But tomorrow…I just have to remember that that is my goal. Exercise before coffee…UGH.

  7. I’m working on the work-out routine. 🙂 I injured my knee a few years back and only now can I start running again. But I haven’t yet motivated myself enough to get up super early… So I have to force myself to go after work. 🙂

  8. Good for you, getting up early to do your exercise. I can only bear the boredom of treadmill walking by watching TV. Now that we’ve moved and have the treadmill in a guest bedroom, I am propping my Kindle and changing it to a large font. I embarrass myself that I am so childishly bored!
