Oh my bloggie friends, how I’ve missed you!!!

Life in the Pear Lane has been mighty fast and furious lately, hence the absence from Bloggerville.  After this week, things should quiet down a bit and maybe (hopefully) I’ll have more time to visit my little corner of the blogosphere.

I think I mentioned in a previous post that my workplace was moving its offices, which has turned out to be a great thing for me.  We moved in last week and now instead of one tiny window with a view of trashcans (yes, trashcans) I now have 3 HUGE windows with a view of the highway and the train tracks, and the bank (shut up! It’s better than trashcans!).  I am no longer confined by the rules of the industrial plant in regards to my clothing, so the days of dressing like a construction worker are behind me (hello cute new sandals!). Also since I escaped the Gates of Hell  the plant, I can come and go as I please – I can go to the convenience store across the street and buy myself a Dr. Pepper at 2 in the afternoon, and it doesn’t take an Act of Congress* to do it, either!  Yes, it’s the little things in life that make me truly happy!

Let’s see, what else has been going on… oh yeah, my 70 year old mother had knee replacement surgery and is recuperating nicely (which reminds me, I need to call her today), my 4 year old had a nasty stomach virus, then my 9 year old got a fever and sore throat, my 13 year old had a band concert plus an ortho appointment – did I mention ALL of this happened last week? In one week? I was a crazy mess, let me tell you.

This week is still busy but not as bad, and a little more fun. My 4 year old will be a 5 year old tomorrow (on May 5, no less) so we are heading to Chuck E Cheese’s tomorrow after work, then on Thursday is another orthodontist appt for my son, then Friday is son’s Band Banquet (lasagna for $5!Woo!), and then Saturday is 9 year old’s friend’s birthday party, and a trip to check in on New Knee Mom.

Guess what I haven’t done in 2 weeks?  Train for the upcoming 5k!  The race is in 18 days and I am haven’t even finished week 4 of C25k yet.  I’m not too worried about it though, I’ll just do the best I can and have fun with it. I’m actually really excited about it, and I plan on getting back on my training schedule. Do you know how much I love it that I have a training schedule? Makes me sound all athletic-y.

Outside my window right now, there is a sketchy looking guy walking with a 2 liter of Pepsi and a can of Red Bull. Who goes walking with soda at noon? Weird.

Anyway, that’s what’s been going on with me. I was going to get all caught up with my Google Reader, but there are 185 posts in there, and my lunch half-hour goes by super fast, so maybe this weekend I can get all caught up with you. *And by Act of Congress, I mean that if I wanted to go anywhere during the workday, I had to leave my office, walk the 1/4 mile to the gate, scan my card, walk through the turnstile, walk to my car, and THEN go wherever it was I wanted to go. The walk from my office to my car took about 10 minutes. My lunch is (technically) a half hour, so trying to go anywhere during lunch/working hours was a PAIN!!
