Today’s weight: 159. (I’ve decided to start posting my weight as an extra little push to get the number lower)
Oh I crack myself up with my witty titles!! Ha!
I’m starting a new 30-day program on Monday* called iChange and in this program I get to work with a registered dietician name Diana Young (who is very nice, btw) who will monitor my daily diet and exercise and make suggestions to help me tweak things here and there. There are other longer programs available, but this one is a special program they are offering right now. Did I mention that all of this is done online? Well it is. Through emails and text messages Diana keeps in close contact with the participants and guides them to a healthier way of life. I’m really excited about this, but also nervous. Change is hard. Change is different. Change is uncomfortable. But like the extremely overused saying goes “if you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you always got” or something to that effect. So I’m forcing myself to move out of my comfort zone of comfy snacks and comfy food into a zone of health and hopefully, eventual weight loss. Even though the program doesn’t officially begin until Monday, Diana has me entering all my food, exercise, and water into a log, and then I have to plan out my meals for next week using a guide that she has given me. There is quite a bit of preparation to do before the program begins, so I already have plenty of things to keep me busy – a sort of jump start, if you will. It’s nothing difficult (so far) just sort of “getting to know you” type things. I plan on posting about it at least a couple of days per week, so get ready to hear about what I’m eating, what I’m not eating, and how the program works in general. Or you can just totally skip reading my blog for the next 5 weeks, but I hope you’ll stick around to see the end result, which I hope is a ten-pound-lighter me! 😉
Okay, I know we are only 5 days into the New Year but I’ve already taken action on some of my resolutions: I found a yoga class that is held on Thursday nights at 7pm which would be perfect. There is a class this Thursday that I would like to attend, but the temperature is supposed to be like, 1 degree that day. Yeah you read that right, ONE WHOLE DEGREE. That is some crazy cold weather, so I don’t know if I’ll get out that night or not, but I definitely plan on going at some point very soon.
Another NYR that I’ve had success with is eating at the dinner table. Our first dinner at the table was Sunday night and at first it was awkward and uncomfortable, but we did it. I think just doing it that first night was the biggest hurdle, because last night we ate at the table again and it was very relaxed and enjoyable! We all kind of hung around the table for a few minutes afterward and just chatted – it was really nice. I really want this one to stick!
Oh, and on the digestive front – I’m eating Activia yogurt. ‘Nuff said.
*I was contacted by iChange and offered to try this program for free in exchange for my honest feedback. I’m not getting paid for it. And I’m starting on Monday because that’s the official start date, not because I’m a slacker/procrastinator, which I actually am, but that’s beside the point.
