A 40-something woman trying to lose 40-something pounds

Once upon a time there was a young bride…

1996 - so young!

1996 – so young!

who became a young mother…

the tiny one is my son, the other is a friend

the tiny one is my son, the other is a friend

again…

look at those hips!!!

look at those hips!!!

and again.

my third and final!!

my third and final!!

She packed on the pounds with each pregnancy and when she finally felt ready, she started to lose weight…

March 2008 - I had already lost 7 pounds on WW

Had lost about 15 -20 pounds by July 2008

until finally she felt normal again.  She’s still got a little ways to go, but she feels like the young bride again…

Whew...that's better!

Whew…that’s better!

and even though her story is not over,  today she feels great and can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings…

1/20/11 – Apparently the next chapter included a lot weight re-gain. Thirty pounds of weight regain to be precise. 2010 was a stressful year in which I stuffed myself silly as a coping mechanism. I’m working on getting the weight off again, so hopefully sooner rather than later, I’ll have a new set of progress pics to post here.

11/25/12 – Still working on that weight loss. I’ve done a lot of mental work in the last couple of years and have finally decided to get some help of the professional variety. I’ts been a long hard battle, but I’m not giving up the fight!

4/9/13 – Rejoined Weight Watchers a couple of months ago and am starting to lose again. I could post more photos, but I pretty much look the same as I do in the photos above.

Jill, you have always been beautiful to me, no matter what. You’re a wonderful, gorgeous (and did I mention uber-cool?!?!) person, and you’ll always be my favorite Jilly who I have looked up to since age 3 months! I always wanted to look like you when I grew up (and thank goodness, I do)!

P.S. Sorry for using the word “uber.” I hate that word.

I just came to your blog from First Ourselves–thank you! 2010 was a killer year for me too (during which I also put on 30 lbs. in what seemed no time at all), and I spent 2011 trying to lose it again. Instead, I yo-yoed a lot while still ending up 30 lbs above where I’d like to be. Yeah, I did some pretty good living on the way as well, but now it’s time for the weight to come off. I don’t need the insulation and protection any more–really, I never did. I just thought I did.

Looking forward to following you and wishing you all the best in your journey!

Really, Really, Good Reasons why you should join the Will2lose Team Challenge.
    1. You don’t know how to start. You’ve made the decision to get healthy. Now what? How many times a week should you workout? How do you know if you are using the right amount of weight? Are you doing the exercise safely and effectively. What’s the difference between cardiovascular and resistant training? The questions go on and on. A personal trainer is not just there to count how many squats you do. Personal Trainers are here to teach, challenge and motivate.
    2. You are working out but not seeing the results you want. Our personal trainers develop programs so that you see results. They can teach and guide you to better choices. In each session you will learn how muscles work and which are the most effective exercises for them.
    3. You were losing weight on your own but your body hit a plateau. This may be for a few reasons.
    a. Your body isn’t being challenged. Your routine can’t stay the same. Your program must progress. You should “overload” your muscles.
    b. It could be that you are mentally bored with your routine.
    c. What are you eating? Your nutritionist appointments with Dr. Vito will make a big difference.
    4. You have an injury or illness. Our experienced trainers will work with you to create a program to, heal and avoid an injury, and even decrease heart disease, diabetes or arthritis.
Your trainer will push you to the next level by encouraging and motivation you. He or she will email or text you for support and encouraging words. You can log on to our facebook and twitter any time of day.

Will2lose in Scarsdale, NY really works. Don’t just take our word for it.
“I just wanted to express to you my heartfelt thanks…. I truly believe that you have created an environment of success, and I am so glad you did. To carve out a unique place for someone like me, where I feel comfortable, safe and welcomed is an inexpressible moment. I wished to thank you personally tonight, but I didn’t … I wanted to thank you for acknowledging our victories… I have never won a medal, much less two of them…. I cannot tell you how much gratitude I have for the implementation of your vision as expressed so wonderfully by our trainer, Chris. He is amazing. You already know that and it is awesome that you somehow found each other in this very mixed up place that we call our lives. Enjoy who you are, what you believe in and make it happen…..
We are counting on you ….
    Thank you so much…
    Just another ‘loser’
